Stephen has specialised in business, technology, communications and intellectual property law since 1995. He is highly regarded for his specialist work and services over the years in the media, advertising and marketing communications sectors, including the interactive and digital mediascape. Over the last few years, Stephen has broadened his practice and advised extensively upon disruptor technology platforms, emerging technologies, social media, online reputation management and artificial intelligence technologies.

Stephen also specialises in privacy and data legal compliance and has conducted numerous industry seminars on how business can be future ready for imminent privacy law changes arising from the Digital Platforms Inquiry. Mergers & acquisitions also forms a significant component of Stephen’s legal practice and for many years has been lead legal counsel in high profile business acquisitions and divestments across numerous industry sectors. 

Another of Stephen’s practice specialisations is the arena of conflict solutions, where he is regularly asked to solve problems and find solutions that often require alternative approaches beyond the purely legal.

His practice now includes similar legal services in the defence and security sectors, where he draws heavily upon his extensive military and police service to better understand the legal, commercial and human needs of the enterprises he serves.

 In a career spanning nearly 40 years, Stephen has served as an Army Reserve Officer in numerous infantry battalions, training units and higher headquarters in South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. Stephen has had the privilege of serving across the spectrum of infantry roles - he has been a section commander, a platoon commander, company 2IC, company commander, combat team commander, training officer and a staff officer. Stephen continues to serve as a Major working on numerous special projects for Defence operational units, including capability development, operational design, specialist defence procurement / contracting and the laws of armed conflict.

Stephen joined the Australian Federal Police in 1989 and served until 1994 after which he joined the legal profession. He served in the Australian Capital Territory, Victoria and South Australia and gained experiences in numerous operational roles including fraud and general crime, drug enforcement units, joint task forces with State police and international airports.

Daniel Mendoza-Jones is a practicing solicitor and Partner at Lawforce Alpha.

 Daniel is a corporate and commercial lawyer with broad experience in general business law as well as his specialisation in Defence industry matters.

Daniel began his legal career at Allens Arthur Robinson (now Allens Linklaters) where he gained experience in general corporate and commercial advice especially in the areas of technology, Defence industry and financial services. Daniel has continued to practice corporate and commercial law and has become a trusted adviser to range of clients, in fields including Defence industry, aerospace, aviation, government and technology. Having worked in private and government practice, Daniel’s commercial advice is often sought small and large organisations doing business with government.

Daniel is also a Legal Officer in the Royal Australian Air Force Specialist Reserve and advises clients on a wide range of military legal matters. He has served as Honorary Solicitor and on the board of directors for a number of not-for-profit organisations.
